Proclamation Honors Kane County Emergency Volunteers

In appreciation of the service of dedicated volunteers from departments throughout Kane County, the County Board has proclaimed April as National Volunteer Appreciation Month.

Kane County's committed volunteers serve residents in numerous ways and donate thousands of hours every year during special events, emergencies, disasters, educational programs and more.  Last year alone, the Kane County Office of Emergency Management volunteers provided more than 11,000 hours of service to the County and its citizens, donated time with a dollar amount valued at just over $353,000.00.   VOLUNTEER WEEK 2024.jpg

The following proclamation was passed by the Kane County Board on April 9, 2024: 

WHEREAS, National Volunteer Appreciation Month in the United States takes place in the month of April. This month is dedicated to honoring all of the volunteers in our community as well as encouraging volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, volunteers do not ask for recognition or to be paid for all their selfless work but they definitely deserve our respect and appreciation; and

WHEREAS, in FY2023 the Kane County Office of Emergency Management volunteers and members provided 11,116.34 hours of service to the county and its citizens, responding to emergency call outs, pre-planned events and details, providing traffic control, man power, Search and rescue response and public education; and

WHEREAS, it is difficult to place a dollar value on the work volunteers do, the donation time is valued at $353,499.62 and enables officers, fire personnel and first responders to
return to actively responding to protect the citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board recognize April as National Volunteer Appreciation month and praise those volunteers that have selflessly shown up and shared their time, talent, knowledge and skills in service of others.
