Pet of the Week: Lady Daffodil

Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control 4/21/2024 6:00AM

The story of how a dog or cat becomes a stray usually stays a mystery unless an owner or caregiver comes forward. Much of the time, a stray dog or cat's backstory is blank.

For others, there are a few immediate clues as to what a dog might have experienced in their life on the streets. For example, Lady Daffodil, a 3-year-old white and brown spayed Pit Bull Terrier-mix came to us as a stray, needing immediate medical attention because of two shards of glass stuck in an open wound on her left side.

Questions abound! If only Lady D. could talk and explain how she sustained her injury. Unfortunately, she can't so we're left with a lot of musings of what might have happened.

What we do know is that she is one of the sweetest, nicest dogs we have ever run across.

Just as the daffodil is a symbol of spring and new beginnings, Lady Daffodil has a very positive attitude and a happy personality. Throughout her entire ordeal, Lady D wagged her tail as she received pet after pet at the vet office. Her light shone even brighter and her tail wagged even harder with all the attention she received from everyone at KCAC.

She loves her walks and won't pull when on a leash. She also loves to play with balls and squeaky toys. And at the end of the day, there's nothing like a good game of tug-of-war.

She's fine with other dogs as long as they aren't too high energy. In fact, she will take on the job of correcting a dog with high energy in order to get them to calm down.

Lady Daffodil will make a wonderful addition to any family looking for a sweet, good-natured best friend.

KCAC Pupdates

Congratulations to Blossom, the 4-month-old spayed black and white Jack (Parson) Russell Terrier-mix, for finding her perfect forever home!

True to form, Blossom never stopped wiggling her body the entire time she was saying her adieus to the KCAC staff. She practically jumped out of their arms in her excitement of getting a chance to go somewhere and see other people! In no time, she was out the door and into her new parent's car. There's no place to go but up, Blossom!
