Kane County Pet of the Week - Canned Ham
“A cat can make you feel well rested when you're tired or turn a rage into a calm just by sitting on your lap. His very nearness is a healing song." – Shannon Hale, American author, young adult fantasy
It's a crazy name for a cat!
A cat named after ham in a can. Other than holidays or special moments in life, a canned ham usually just sits around without a purpose other than just being…canned ham.
Or, it's a silly name for a black and white Domestic Shorthair neutered male feline that's approximately one-year-and-4-months-old, found as a stray.
I'll take Reason Number 2, Alex!
First of all, Canned Ham is a handsome nearly all black cat, except for the white “locket" on his chest. His little toes also show bits of white on the very tippy-tips, almost as if someone painted them with white nail polish.
Canned Ham is anything but sedentary! He is an extremely social boy, very outgoing with lots of life and energy that loves talking to everyone! Be prepared for your home to be filled with his vocalizations as he verbally reminds you each and every day just how much you love him!
He definitely believes in playing hard and living by the tip of his tail as he teases as many of the other cats as he can by climbing to the top of the cages in the cat room. He then dares the other felines to do the same!
Canned Ham knows he has a greater purpose in life which is the same reason he was found on someone's property and brought to KCAC in the first place. It's the same reason he was spared the life as an “outdoor" cat.
And that reason is… to share his amazing personality with his new family as they face life together!
