Kane County Observes Constitution and Citizenship Day and Constitution Week 2025
Kane County is commemorating Constitution and Citizenship Day on September 17, 2025, and Constitution Week from September 17–23, 2025, in recognition of the 238th anniversary of the framing of the United States Constitution.
Under federal law, September 17 is designated as Constitution and Citizenship Day to honor the signing of the Constitution in 1787 and to recognize all individuals who have become U.S. citizens, whether by birth or naturalization. Congress encourages schools, civic organizations, and communities nationwide to observe the day by educating citizens about their rights, responsibilities, and opportunities.
The President of the United States also designates September 17–23 as Constitution Week each year, inviting communities to hold ceremonies and educational activities in schools, churches, and other venues.
In proclaiming the observance, the Kane County Board, lead by board member Bill Roth, recognized the importance of reflecting on the enduring principles of the Constitution and the freedoms it guarantees. Residents are encouraged to celebrate the nation’s founding document and uphold the ideals established by the Framers of the Constitution.
For more information on Constitution Week and related educational activities, community members are encouraged to reach out to local schools, libraries, and civic organizations.
