Kane County Division of Transportation Annual Urethane Pavement Marking Begins Week of September 22nd
The annual Kane County Urethane Pavement Marking Program is scheduled to begin the week of September 22, 2025, weather permitting.
Work will take place Monday through Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and will include the installation of urethane pavement markings on various County highways (see attached map).
The Urethane Pavement Marking Program is part of Kane County's comprehensive road maintenance efforts. Urethane is applied as a stronger alternative to water-based paint, designed to improve durability and longevity of road markings, particularly on high-traffic routes. Work is expected to progress from south to north and be completed by the end of October 2025, weather dependent.
Traffic Impacts:
- Daily temporary lane closures will be required.
- Flaggers will be present to direct motorists safely through work areas and intersections.
- Drivers should use caution in freshly painted areas, reduce speed, and watch for flaggers, workers, and equipment along the roadway and shoulders.
- Allow for extra travel time when passing through work zones.
Visit our Traffic Advisories webpage for more information on road closures, detours, and active KDOT projects.
Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas, consider alternate routes and expect additional commute time. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site and obey flaggers and traffic control devices. It is illegal to talk or text on a cell phone while driving.
