‘Solidarity Against Hate’ — Thursday Vigil in St. Charles Honors Victims of ChristChurch Massacre
Kane County residents — who recently suffered a mass shooting in Aurora — will have a chance to express grief and solidarity for the victims of the ChristChurch, New Zealand, massacre during a Thursday event in St. Charles.
The event will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the Islamic Center of Kane County, 2325 Dean St., Suite 100B, St. Charles.
“Please join us in solidarity at a vigil to mourn the victims of the massacre and terrorist attack in ChristChurch, New Zealand,” organizers said in a news release. “Let us stand united against terrorism and hatred against religious and other minorities.”
As families of the New Zealand mosque shooting begin the process of burying their loved ones, communities throughout American have been holding vigils to show solidarity and support.
New Zealand witnessed its most horrific mass shooting in modern history Friday, when a white supremacist opened fire at two mosques in Christchurch, killing 50 people, in an attack broadcast in horrifying, live video.
The police have said that all the evidence points to Brenton Harrison Tarrant being a lone gunman.
