Activities include hayride tours of oak savanna and prairie; children’s games; Elgin Public Museum, Elgin History Museum and Native American interpreter; music; handcrafted jewelry, local cheese, and honey for sale; local history and wildlife organizations and dancing provided by local Square Dance Clubs.

The Elgin Short Film Festival is returning for its 10th year! This special anniversary event is taking place at The Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin, IL on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018. The ESFF has drawn film entries from around the world making this an impressive event that has entertained film lovers since 2009.

Visitors are taken on a 90 minute guided tour through the scenic Bluff City Cemetery to grave sites of former residents, portrayed by actors in period costumes.

More than 150 hand-crafted scarecrows gather in downtown St. Charles during this annual, family-friendly, fall festival. Enjoy live entertainment, great food, numerous interactive children’s activities, huge arts and crafts show, and so much more! This is truly one of the big events of the fall!

Oct. 6 — Montgomery 5K and 10K River Run (MONTGOMERY)

The annual Montgomery 5k and 10k River Run is a family friendly event that features a flat, fast running course along both sides of the beautiful Fox River.

Oct. 12-14 — East Dundee’s First Annual Oktoberfest (EAST DUNDEE)

Octo Street Fest brings artists, musicians, and street performers together for an afternoon of the mystical, the magical, and the absurd.

Oct. 20 — Nightmare on Chicago Street (ELGIN)

Escape the zombie menace, and get to the “Safe Zone” of It’s like Lollapalooza, only it’s been infected with a zombie virus.

BatFest is Batavia’s annual Halloween themed family event attracting over 3,000 ghouls.

Nov. 3 — Illinois History Hike at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve (ST. CHARLES)

Step back in time and see how the Illinois landscape has changed in 200 years. There will be a naturalist-guided walk through the prairie at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, docents, crafts at the nature center, and self-guided Illinois Bicentennial scavenger hunts throughout the afternoon.

Holiday Homecoming is one of the Midwest’s most spectacular holiday events and is the official kick-off to the holiday season in St. Charles.

Nov. 24 — Electric Christmas Parade (ST. CHARLES)

The annual Electric Christmas Parade takes place Saturday at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street in St. Charles.

Nov. 30 — Dickens In Dundee (EAST DUNDEE AND WEST DUNDEE)

This year’s Dickens in Dundee will take place Friday, Nov. 30, in East Dundee, with a parade to follow on Saturday, Dec. 1. Stay tuned for more details as the event approaches!
