  • Editor’s Note: This is the first in a series of articles about the candidates and referendums on the ballot for the Nov. 6, 2018, General Election. Kane County Connects encourages citizens to take part in the election process and to seek multiple sources to inform their voting decisions.

Who’s on the Nov. 6 General Election ballot in Kane County, IL?

It’s a long list that includes statewide races, U.S. Senate and congressional races, Kane County races, 16th Circuit judicial races and four referendums.

Visit the Kane County Clerk’s Election website for more information.

That’s why, as a voter in Kane County, it’s good to peruse the Kane County Clerk’s Office elections website to get a better understanding of who’s running and what’s on the ballot.

Voters in Aurora will also want to bone up on the November election, because this is the first time you’ll be voting under the auspices of county clerk’s offices or county election commissions rather than the Aurora Election Commission, which was disbanded after a referendum in March.

If you live in the Kane County portion of Aurora, voting services will be provided by the Kane County Clerk’s Office. The Kane County Clerk’s Office today (Aug. 13, 2018) is opening a new satellite office in Aurora.

Statewide Candidates

Perhaps the highest-profile election on the Nov. 8 ballot is that of governor.

Bruce Rauner (left) and J.B. Pritzker.

In November, voters will choose a ticket that includes the governor and lieutenant governor. As you probably already know from the endless array to television ads, Republicans Bruce Rauner and Evelyn Sanguinetti face off against Democrats JB Pritzker and Juliana Stratton.

Because Illinois Attorney Gen. Lisa Madigan is not seeking a fifth term, the attorney general’s race is also hotly contested. That pits Republican Erika Harold against Democrat Kwame Raoul.

Voters in Kane County also will have an opportunity to choose between candidates for state senator and state representative. The list of candidates is below.
