Aug. 13-19 UPDATE: Elburn Days, Gladys Night And Deloreans — Kane’s Fabulous Summer Events Guide 2018

It’s another amazing summer week in Kane County, with everything from Elburn Days to Gladys Knight to a Delorian convention.

Yes, you heard that right.

Elburn Days is an amazing festival with all sorts of activities that are fun for all ages.

ELBURN‘s big event continues to expand each year, and that’s a good thing because it’s the largest annual fundraiser for the Elburn Lions Park and Elburn Lions Charities.

This year’s theme goes along with the idea of helping out: “Serving our community through vision, literacy and wellness.”

Elburn Days will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at 500 Filmore St., Elburn.

ALGONQUIN residents can enjoy a free movie at the Armstrong Memorial Pool. This week is the Disney film Moana! With a pool pass or a library card, you can have free admission to the event. Be sure to pack your bathing suit, too! The event will take place from 7:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Lions Armstrong Memorial Pool, 599 Longwood Drive, Algonquin.

Are you a fan of the music from the 1960s and 1970s? If so, be sure to check out AURORA’s Happy Together concert, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at the Paramount Theater, 23 E. Galena Boulevard, Aurora.

Before Happy Together, there will be a kick-off party to commemorate the 2018-19 season, with food and drinks, auctions and games. The money raised from the event will go toward the Dreams Do Come True program, which helps children with life-threatening illnesses.

AURORA is a great place for music this week! Take the midnight train and see the legendary Gladys Knight the O’Jays. The band has hits that transcend many genres, such as pop, gospel, R&B and much more.

Gladys Knight has been performing gospel music since the age of 4. She was only 16 years old when she debuted her first album, and she later went on to produce hits such as “Midnight Train to Georgia,“Every Beat of My Heart,” “Letter Full of Tears,” and “I Heard it Through the Grapevine.”

Gladys Knight & The O’Jays will perform from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway St., Aurora.

The best thing about garage sales is that you’ll never know what you’re going to find! That’s why you should stop by BARTLETT for the villagewide garage sale. The garage sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, from Thursday, Aug. 16, through Saturday, Aug. 18, at various locations around Bartlett.

ELGIN Summer Theater presents Sister Act, a unique musical that ties in comedy and mystery all in one. You’ll be laughing until your sides are sore and be on the edge of your seat to see just what happens next.

A disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder. For her safety, she is put in a covenant and disguised as a nun! Will Deloris fit in with the sisterhood or will she be outed to the gang trying to find her? Sister Act will take place from 8 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Friday, Aug 17, and Saturday, Aug 18, and from 3 p.m. 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.

If you’ve heard of the hit movie Back to The Future, you’ll know of that the car that Marty and Doc use to go back in time is a Delorean. Fans of Back to The Future and Delorean enthusiasts will rejoice knowing that there will be a Delorean convention and show tech session in ST. CHARLES.

The Delorean convention will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Baltria Vintage Car Show, 4200 E. Main St., St. Charles.
