VIDEO: How To Activate Your State of Illinois MyTax Account
Now that the 2018 has arrived, a lot of Kane County residents will turn their attention to the dreaded task of income-tax filing.
And one of the first things on the to-do list might be to activate your state of Illinois MyTax Account.
MyTax Illinois is a centralized location on the Illinois Department of Revenue website, where taxpayers may electronically file tax returns, make payments, manage their tax accounts or register a new business.
Registration with MyTax Illinois helps ensure confidentiality of your tax data and provides protection from identity theft.

The first step is to request a letter ID from the Illinois Department of Revenue. Once you’ve done that, the letter will be sent to the address associated with your individual income tax account.
Once you get the letter, you can go to Step 2 and activate your account.
