20-Year-Old Dies in Tuesday Crash on Randall Road

The Kane County Coroner’s Office said Wednesday that blunt force trauma was the cause of death in a Tuesday-night crash on Randall Road.

According to a news release, the Coroner’s Office was called at around 11:54 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 7, 2017) by Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin regarding the death of a 20-year-old male involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash. The crash took place just north of Silver Glen Road on Randall Road in South Elgin, IL.

The Coroner’s Office identified the 20-year-old as Austin King of St. Charles.

Due to the documented injuries by Presence St. Joseph Hospital, an autopsy was not conducted by the Coroner’s Office, the news release said. The preliminary cause of death is Blunt Force Trauma. Toxicology samples were obtained from the hospital and sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis.

Media sources said King’s 2006 Lexus struck a utility pole along northbound Randall Road north of Silver Glen Road. The South Elgin & Countryside Fire Department extricated King and took him to Presence St. Joseph Hospital.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office is cooperating with all police and fire agencies in their ongoing investigation of the incident.
