Kane County Animal Control (KCAC) achieved a new milestone this past month when a record number of pet owners turned out to take advantage of the County's popular low-cost rabies and microchipping clinic.  The first event of 2024 vaccinated a total 165 dogs and cats against rabies. Additionally, 25 pets received the security of a microchip.

"It was wonderful to see both familiar faces and newcomers alike. Everything ran seamlessly, and we look forward to our next event here at the facility on May 15," said KCAC Director, Brett Youngsteadt.

A one-year rabies vaccine with tag is $30 (neutered) or $55 (not neutered) or $35 and $90 for three-year vaccines; and microchips are $15. It is free for seniors, age 65 or older, with proof of age.

The next dates for KCAC's low-cost rabies vaccine/microchip clinic are as follows:  Wednesday May 15, 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday June 8 and August 3, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The September and October dates will be announced later.

A special microchip event is set for Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m. until noon at Carpenter Park, 275 Maple Ave. in Carpentersville.
